1. Alice Osman (Principal Examiner, UK) in Argentina & Paraguay

In October 2011 Alice Osman, Anglia´s Principal Examiner, spent two weeks in Argentina and Paraguay, delivering Teacher Training Sessions and Speaking Assessor Training at different centres. One of the highlights of the trip was the 7th Annual Congress and Exhibition for English Language Professionals in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Alice was delighted to attend this year´s event and presented one of the five plenary sessions. The other presenters were Chris Kunz (Anglia representative for the Ibero-American Network), Kate French and Bruce Thompson (International House, Buenos Aires), and Leonardo Paladino (Macmillan). The Congress was attended by over 250 teachers from across Argentina and neighbouring countries. It was a resounding success and helped generate potential growth in this part of the world as new schools have already shown strong interest in becoming Anglia members since the Congress took place, on the 29th October.

Within the areas of the Ibero-American Network, one of the benefits of becoming an Anglia Member is that candidates have the opportunity to take an oral mock exam free of charge, conducted by qualified Anglia assessors. While in Latin America, Alice assisted Chris and Monica Kunz in carrying out these mock exams. The candidates seemed delighted to have the chance to demonstrate their level of English to the Principal Examiner from the Anglia Head Office in the UK.

Fortunately, there was also the opportunity to visit some beautiful parts of this corner of South America in the springtime. However, as the academic year in South America draws to a close, this is a particularly busy time because exam sessions are about to begin. For Alice it was therefore an excellent opportunity to see first hand how marketing and exams are co-ordinated there.

Alice would like to thank Chris, Monica and all the members of the Anglia local team for their efforts in making this such an enjoyable and unforgettable experience.

2. Anglia Congress – a resounding success – THANK YOU!
Dear All (Participants, Speakers & Sponsors),
Now that The VII Anglia Ascentis International Congress & Exhibition for English Language Professionals has come to an end, we would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all the members of the Organising Committee, all our participants and volunteers, all the Speakers & Sponsors who have contributed to the success of the Conference.
Thank you also for your valuable feedback on all five plenary sessions presented by Chris Kunz, Alice Osman, Kate French, Bruce Thompson and Leandro Paladino. Your warm words, congratulatory messages and willingness to attend next year's Congress will definitely help us pave the way for our next meeting!
Hopefully, we have managed to shed some light upon the things in which we believe and how we attemp to live our lives as lifelong educators and learners.
So, again, thank you for helping us celebrate our Annual International Meeting, and more important, thank you for helping us imagine our next Conference!
We will keep you informed of our latest news.
Have an excellent week!

3. Forthcoming Exam Sessions within the network
As we approach the end of another academic year and beginning of the next exam session in several countries within the network, we would like to thank all our members in Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Paraguay, Colombia, Chile, Spain, Brazil and Venezuela for their hard work and continued support during the very busy enrolment period. We are delighted with the large and ever-increasing number of exam entries we have received for November/ December 2011 and are always keen to help every student achieve their maximum potential.

4. Newly Trained Troupe of Examiners

We would like to welcome our new group of recently trained examiners and invigilators who have just completed all their programme´s input sessions, observations of live interviews and handed in their final assignment to be marked within the next few days.
We do wish everyone in the team, already-practising as well as new examiners, the very best of luck for the forthcoming round of exams!

5. Thank you, Alice!

Now that Alice´s visit to Argentina and Paraguay has officially come to an end and that Alice must be back in the UK, we would all really like to express our gratitude towards the Anglia Headquarters in the UK for having made her visit possible.

Without a doubt, Alice´s trip has been truly successful and she has made every effort to make the most out of it. We are sure all the participants to all her presentations, workshops and plenary session at the Congress did not only profit immensely academically but also had the opportunity to share their time with a spectacular professional. The local team of examiners, already practising and newly trained, also found her assessor training sessions highly inspiring as well as totally informative and enjoyable, filled with practical ideas to take away with them and apply in the forthcoming exam sessions.

We honestly believe Alice´s visit has had a strong and positive impact on everybody in the area and we have already begun to harvest the crops that have been planted since new schools and teachers have ageed to start offering our exams to their students as of next year. Obviously, everybody identified Alice with the college and this also helps us with the marketing of the Study Trips to Chichester.
