Dr Andy Curtis has been sponsored by TESOL

Andy Curtis is currently the Director of the Language Teaching Unit (ELTU) and an Associate Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He received his teaching degree (BEd) from Sunderland University, UK in 1991, and a Postgraduate Diploma in TESOL from Sheffield Hallam University, UK, also in 1991. In 1992, he received an MA in Applied Linguistics and in 1996 a PhD in International Education, both from the University of York, UK. From 2002 to 2005 he was the Director of the School of English at Queens University in Ontario, Canada. Dr Curtis is currently a member of SIT’s online teaching team for their International Diploma in Language Teaching Management.

In 1999, Dr Curtis received the TESOL Leadership Mentoring Award from the TESOL Association, and during his ten years as a member of the Association he has served on TESOL’s Standing Committee on Rules and Resolutions, on the Nominations Committee, on two Research Agenda Task Forces, and is currently serving on the TESOL Task Force on Convention Long Range Planning. Dr Curtis is Member of the TESOL Board of Directors, serving 2007/2010.

Dr. Curtis’ research interests have focused teacher education and development, program design and program evaluation, educational leadership and management of change. His current research interests include leadership in language education and change management in tertiary education contexts.

He has published in a wide range of journals on English language education, teacher professional development and language program development. Since 2000, Dr Curtis has published six book chapters and since 1996, 24 papers in refereed, scholarly publications. Dr. Curtis has worked with more than 10,000 ELT professionals in more than 25 countries over the last 20 years.

Doctor en Lenguas Modernas (summa cum laude), Universidad del Salvador. Licenciado en Ciencias de la Educación con especialización en educación formal (summa cum laude), Universidad Católica de La Plata. Licenciado en Tecnología Educativa (summa cum laude), Universidad Tecnológica Nacional. Profesor en Inglés e Inglés Técnico, Instituto Nacional Superior del ProfesoradoTécnico. He is currently a candidate to the Maestría en la Enseñanza de la Lengua y la Literatura, Universidad Nacional de Rosario.

 

He is a University Lecturer in the area of Applied Linguistics at UTN and the Director of Licenciatura en Lengua Inglesa INSPT-UTN. He is the author and co-author of more than 30 EFL textbooks  and a number of papers in his field of specialization. Omar has taught English at all levels: Kindergarten through University for 35 years now. He was a Secondary School Head for more than 10 years. He was also Head of the School of English at Universidad Austral and Principal of Instituto Superior del Profesorado Modelo. He has lectured extensively in all Argentinean provinces as well as in Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile and Perú.  He has collaborated with ARTESOL since it became a TESOL affiliate in 1987.

Dr. Ruth Yontz and Dr. Norma Scagnoli, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have extensive experience in ESP and the application of educational technologies for teaching and learning

 

Dr. Norma Scagnoli works as eLearning Specialist for the College of Business in the University of Illinois at U-C. She has extensive experience in instructional design and faculty development that she acquired in the last 10 years of work and research in the area of educational technologies. Norma has a Masters of Education and a PhD in Human Resource Education from the University of Illinois. Her research work includes publications on blended learning, international collaboration, collaborative learning and instructional design
