A BRIEF GUIDE TO THE HELBLING RESOURCE BOOKS
There are five books in the RESOURCE BOOK series. Except for LANGUAGE HUNGRY, all of them  contain an introductory section which explains the rationale of the book in question and the methodological implications and a guide to the activities—to be found at the end of the book-- which will enable teachers to find the right activity according to his/her needs. Both TEACHING GRAMMAR CREATIVELY and IMAGINE THAT are accompanied by a CD for teachers to print activities and proceed to duplicate them for immediate use in the classroom or guided visualizations and music. The list of resource books is as follows:

LANGUAGE HUNGRY
This book presents suggestions on how to help students to manage their learning by raising their awareness level of what is involved in learning a language. For instance, it reminds them that learning is non-linear, that there are inevitable plateaus where nothing seems to be happening on the surface, and yet a lot is happening in terms of language acquisition. The book discusses the contribution of mistakes towards language learning  and the importance of developing a positive frame of mind to overcome the obstacles that often arise in the course of mastering a language. The book is packed with ideas on how to study effectively.

TEACHING GRAMMAR CREATIVELY
In many respects, this is a methods book for both the beginning and the experienced teacher, showing the practitioner how to turn the teaching of grammar into something fascinating. It should stimulate both the students’ and the teacher’s creativity and show them that coming to grips with the grammar of a language can be lots of fun rather than the boring work that students shy away from. .

IMAGINE THAT!
The use of imagery and visualization in the classroom for teaching and learning purposes is explored in detail with lots of activities to awaken the sometimes dormant capacities of the learner. The CD accompanying this book offers guided visualizations so that the recordings can assist the teachers in developing their skills in conducting visualizations.

CREATIVE WRITING
If students are stuck with learning blocks and are short of ideas on what to write about, the activities in this book will come to the rescue and show them that every human being has much to write about if only he is provided with the right stimulation.

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES IN EFL
The activities in this great resource book deal with the different kind of intelligences and help the student to enhance their learning potential by exploring areas they may not have considered. This book goes beyond language teaching/learning and invites the student to grow not only as a learner but as a human being.

HELBLING LANGUAGES offers admission free workshops on each of the books listed above. These workshops are an excellent opportunity to become acquainted with the books and find out how the activities can be used in the classroom.

THE HELBLING READING SERIES
Fifteen readers grouped into levels 1 to 5 for teenagers and young adults including adapted classics and original fiction. Each reader contains before and after reading activities, background information and fact files for project and culture work.

Among the classics are titles such as The Happy Prince and The Nightingale and the Rose, The Red-headed League, The Stolen White Elephant, The Canterville Ghost, and Daisy Miller.

Maria Cleary, the Helbling Readers Series Editor and renowned teacher of cultural awareness says about the series: “Our stories have been carefully chosen in order to appeal to teenage and young adult readers, to engage them on a personal and emotional level so that they no longer think of reading in English as something they have to do but something they want to do.”

A Teacher’s Guide to the whole series—called READING MATTERS-- written by the world known authority on using literature and reading in the EFL class, ALAN PULVERNESS, is available from the Helbling web, www.helblinglanguages.com  This guide offers detailed suggestions and strategies on how to make the most of the Helbling reading materials.
