TOOLS FOR TEACHERS WORKSHOPS AT SBS LIBRERIA INTERNACIONAL

March 2010

1. REALLY PRACTICAL: ACTIVITIES YOU CAN USE RIGHT AWAY

This workshop will present a number of activities which participants will be able to use in their classes right away without the need of elaborate aids.  We will explore ways to make our lessons more interesting, to encourage our students to be more creative, and to present information in a way which is memorable. We will make use of simple visual aids, traditional stories, and recall exercises, to develop an atmosphere conducive to effective learning. We will present activities such as The Johari Window, Snap, the disappearing sentence and the ever intriguing mental telepathy. This session is a revised version of IDEAS THAT WORK.

Saturday, 20 March, 10:00 to 13:00

SBS BARRIO NORTE, Córdoba 1840, CABA

Individual fees as indicated above.

Two people attending together $38 or $35 (students) each.

2. VISUALIZATIONS THAT HEAL

We will follow the principle that says, “Wherever the attention goes the energy follows” We will engage in simple but extremely effective visualizations to recharge our batteries, letting go of what we do not need and  absorb healing energy. We will explore techniques such as the inner smile, activating the microcosmic orbit, cultivating energy and relaxing and nourishing the whole body. This workshop is meant to assist and empower people who, because of their busy lives, have little time to attend regular courses. We will show  exercises which can be done anywhere at anytime, even travelling on a crowded bus, or standing in line at a bank

Saturday, 20 March, 14:00 to 17:00

SBS BARRIO NORTE, Cordoba 1840, CABA

Fees as above

3.  IDIOMS, PROVERBS AND SAYINGS: A COMPARATIVE APPROACH

In this session we will undertake a comparative approach seeking to find equivalents for idioms, proverbs and sayings in English and Spanish. We will attempt a classification depending on semantic equivalents in some instances, and both semantic and lexical similarities in other cases. We will also deal with expressions which would seem to have no counterpart in either language. Throughout we will endeavour to answer the often asked question “How do you say xxxx” and find out how it can be dealt with.

NB: Participants will receive an answer key to the exercises and a bibliography for further study.

Saturday, 27 March, 10:00 to 13:00

SBS BELGRANO, Juramento 2588, CABA

Fees as above.
